Job Summary

Our client are currently recruiting an Associate Director to help to continue to develop their reputation for high quality and insightful qualitative research within the international client base and contribute to growing the overall business in the Unit.

Background

Due to expansion, our client are recruiting an Associate Director to be based in London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic and business development (15%)
  • Support the senior members of the team in growing the business by c17% in 2007 via well targeted client presentations, writing of insightful research proposals and delivery of meaningful results
  • Be responsible for driving awareness and confidence in the relevant areas of best practice being developed and launched by our client within the International ad hoc team so that are actively marketed to clients and included in proposals
  • Win a minimum of one job based on these approaches
  • Contribute to the quality control process for qualitative work
  • Recommend changes or modifications to existing procedures that can lead to improved service Project Management (75%)
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction for qualitative research projects (you are working on) Project and sample design Appropriate design of screeners and discussion guides Appropriate analysis and interpretation Meaningful conclusions and recommendations Able to deliver a final presentation of results which is insightful and delivers against the clients objectives
  • If qualitative specialist – Be confident moderating creative focus groups and using/analysing projective techniques
  • If quantitative specialist – Able to understand advanced analytics including segmentation, conjoint, good understanding of statistics and their application in Market Research and some working knowledge of SPSS
  • Lead brainstorming and debrief workshops/ final presentation of results with clients
  • Ensure timely invoicing, financial updating and client follow up
  • Ensure activities are done accurately, efficiently, within budget to a high standard People Management (after initial get to know team period) (5%)
  • Day to day management of between 1 and 4 research executives (RM’s/SRE/RE’s) including responsibility for: Appraisals and development plan Sickness and holidays Working from home
  • Participation and input in the International ad hoc senior managers meeting which are held monthly
  • Training (5%):
  • Responsibility for the training of junior members of staff (with support from RM’s/SREs etc)
  • Contribute/run training workshops for both staff and clients on relevant topics and methods, including the graduate training scheme

Qualifications and Experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent – minimum 2:1
  • Demonstrate considerable knowledge of the market research process and of the strategic marketing objectives faced by our clients
  • In-depth understanding of the International Adhoc Research process from the perspective of a market research agency Essential:
  • Depth and breath of experience in the design and management of International Ad Hoc qualitative projects including proposal writing, job costing, managing large scale studies, managing a team of executives, leading analysis and interpretation and delivering insightful client presentations
  • Experience of advanced qualitative techniques including projective and use of creative stimulus materials
  • Excellent moderation skills (groups and depths – including confidence with projective and enabling techniques)
  • Or excellent insight into advanced quantitative methodology (see previous)
  • Financial skills- including confidence with costing jobs and delivering projects to budget
  • Excellent time and project management and negotiation skills · Ability to work under pressure to short deadlines
  • Good client and people management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Confident presenter Desirable:
  • Fluency in one or more languages
  • In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical market
  • Understanding of quantitative research – or willingness/interest in learning
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about research
  • Balance between team player and ability to work under own initiative
  • Creative
  • Good eye for detail
  • Able to travel as required to attend client briefings and presentations and fieldwork (rarely outside of Europe)
